For being an avid camper my entire life as well as discussing these events that occurred with fellow campers, I will never recommend or refer camping at Lewis Campground to anyone.
The campground is small with no privacy and the campsite hosts were extremely unruly with us, although we were not disruptive or disrespectful in the slightest. If your looking for a nice relaxing weekend in nature, away from the rest of life's hustle and bustle, I don't recommend Lewis Mountain Campground.
They will not communicate their rules "that could result in fines" aka will result in fines. Each campground has its own rules. They will not communicate those rules with you, you have to read signs across camp. It's funny because they do multiple checks throughout the day, will not communicate those rules to you. Host family will walk by and just wait. You will come back from a hike with a fine and court fees to pay.
Clean and convenient. The squirrels are small, I dont think nobodys feeding them.
While being completely respectful to all other sites around we were discriminated against for being a "younger group" (24-30 years old). We received fines for petty things AS WHERE OTHER GROUPS within the site who weren't over 60 years old or had multiple children.
Always clean and safe. I would recommend staying at the cabin as well. Randy the manager and his team will make you feel welcome and at home.
The campground is smaller than the others, but the campstore manager is amazing. He knows so much about the area. Very helpful and friendly. The campground hosts are very hospitable and helpful. Showers are hot and clean. $1.00 for 5 min. I will come back. Lock your food & food items for cooking, bears can open unlocked car doors! $15/ night.
Un-welcoming experience. Host family was rude. Would never recommend this campsite for anyone under the age of 60 years old or without children. As an outdoor enthusiast and avid hiker I looked forward to coming to Skyline Drive as I have been here 20+ times. Never again.
